11 medals! Europe shines bright at the IESF World Esports Championship 2024

The IESF World Esports Championship 2024 took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from December 11 to 19. The world’s best esports national teams fought for glory and a large prize pool: $970,000 across 6 disciplines. For over a week of thrilling competition, European teams dominated the event, demonstrating exceptional skill and teamwork. Here’s a look at the remarkable achievements of European representatives at this year’s championship.

CS2: Romania claims gold, Portugal and Serbia Join the podium
In the fiercely contested Counter-Strike 2 tournament, Romania emerged as the ultimate champions, securing the gold medal with a combination of strategic brilliance and individual skill, especially that of Adrian “XELLOW” Guță.

Portugal followed closely, earning the silver medal, while Serbia fought their way to a well-deserved bronze medal. The European dominance in CS2 underscored the region’s depth of talent in one of the world’s most popular esports titles.

CS2 Women: Poland reclaims gold for the first time in history
The CS2 Women’s tournament was a landmark event, and Poland stood tall as the champions, taking home the gold medal after a stunning series of matches. Wiktoria “vicu” Janicka was chosen as the MVP of the tournament, as she saved her team many times with her great AWPing. The Polish team is the first to win the Women Championship for the second time – they previously achieved this in 2022 in Bali.

France secured the silver medal, while Portugal added to their medal tally with a bronze. This achievement highlights the rapid growth and competitiveness of women’s esports across Europe.

Dota 2: Greece, Sweden, and Türkiye dominate
The Dota 2 competition was another highlight for European esports. Greece demonstrated impeccable strategy and teamwork to clinch the gold medal.

Sweden secured silver with a solid performance, while Türkiye rounded out the podium with the bronze, proving their consistency and strength in this iconic esports title.


PUBG Mobile: Türkiye and Ukraine take the lead
In the fast-paced world of PUBG Mobile, European teams also left their mark. Türkiye dominated the competition, earning the gold medal, while Ukraine secured silver. Turkish Taha “Soulless” Avsar’s great performances earned him the title of MVP at the tournament.
